Terezín – Small Fortress
Terezín was established at the end of the 18th century as a fortress; still surrounded by its massive ramparts, the town lies at the confluence of the rivers Elbe and Eger. During World War I, the fortress was used as a political prison camp. During World War II, the Gestapo used Terezín as a ghetto, to imprison Jews. After the German surrender, the small fortress was used as an internment camp. Today Terezín is still trying to decouple from its military past.

Kutná Hora
Take a walk around Kutná Hora and discover the history of the town that almost paralleled the royal City of Prague some centuries ago. Because of its affluence, the town was called the jewel and the treasury of the country.

Mělník
The district town Mělník lies in the middle of the Elbe lowlands at the confluence of the rivers Elbe and Vltava. In the 5th and 6th century, many Slavonic ethnic groups lived here and the Pšovans established their settlement in Mělník. For instance Princess Ludmila, who married the Bohemian prince Bořivoj, belonged to the Pšovans.
